With original prints and drawings, from the German Renaissance master Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528) to modern and contemporary examples by artists such as Käthe Kollwitz (1867–1945) and Kiki Smith (b. 1954), this exhibition highlights Mary’s central role in the history of Christianity and religious art.

Mary’s role in the history of the church and culture cannot be overstated. She is one of Christianity’s most beloved and iconic figures. With original artworks spanning six centuries, this exhibition explores key Marian subjects in art depicted by Renaissance masters to modern and contemporary artists. The wide range of objects in this exhibition attest to Mary’s immense popularity as an artistic subject among centuries of artists and art collectors.
